Grief to Grace was developed by Dr. Theresa Burke, Ph.D., LCP, NCP, the founder of Rachel’s Vineyard Ministries for healing after abortion. She is recognized as a leader in the field of post-abortion trauma and treatment.
Fr. Dominic Allain serves as the program’s International Pastoral Director.

Dr. Theresa Burke, Founder

+ Biography

Dr. Theresa Burke, who developed Grief to Grace, is also the founder of Rachel’s Vineyard, the largest post abortion healing ministry in the world. Her programs offer sensory-based treatment that integrates emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. Theresa lectures and trains professionals internationally on subjects including post-abortion and other abuse trauma and healing. Her books include Forbidden Grief: The Unspoken Pain of Abortion (with David C. Reardon), The Contraception of Grief: The Genesis of Anguish Conceived by Abortifacients and Sterilization, and Sharing the Heart of Christ (with Kevin Burke).

Theresa’s counseling work has focused on women’s issues, bereavement, pregnancy loss, sexual abuse, eating disorders and anxiety management.

Theresa holds an undergraduate degree in English Communications with a concentration in social work and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University. She holds a Doctorate from Southwest University, AZ in Counseling Psychology. She is a Nationally Certified Psychologist, a Certified Diplomat of the American Psychotherapy Association, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Board Certified Clinical Psychotherapist, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Counselors. She holds membership in the Society for Catholic Social Scientists and the American Association of Christian Counselors. Theresa is the proud mother of five children.

Fr. Dominic Allain, International Pastoral Director

+ Biography

Fr Dominic Allain was ordained a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Southwark, England in 1999. He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in philosophy and theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He has been variously a hospital chaplain, a high school chaplain, and a pastor. Before entering the seminary, he taught high school for several years, having graduated from London University with an honours degree in English Language and Literature. Fr. Dominic holds a diploma in counselling from the Westminster Pastoral Foundation and is an Associate of King’s College, London. He has recently completed courses in spiritual direction at the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha, Nebraska, and on the ministry of Deliverance at Rome’s Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum.

In 2011, Fr. Dominic was appointed International Pastoral Director of Grief to Grace Ministries and, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Southwark, established Grief to Grace’s UK program.

Based in London, Fr. Dominic currently combines his work with Grief to Grace at home and abroad with his responsibilities as an adjunct spiritual director at the diocesan seminary and as a journalist. He writes a weekly column in the Catholic Herald and in 2009 published Diary of a City Priest, a book of reflections on his experiences as a pastor.
